|100,000 Teachers to Receive Salary Increment in July (LIST). Under the New Deal, around 100,000 teachers are set to get salary bumps starting this July. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) plays a big role in hiring, paying, and recruiting educators, including both interns and permanent staff. Teachers earn regular pay along with extra allowances.
The commission also keeps tabs on promotions, transfers, and disciplinary matters within the teaching field, ensuring swift resolutions. Many teachers are eagerly anticipating the upcoming pay raise in July 2024, especially permanent staff who are already planning for it.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) outlines the terms of the pay hike, recently agreed upon by the TSC and teachers’ unions. However, not all educators will benefit, as eligibility requires being employed by July 2023.
The parliamentary budget committee has allocated a substantial sum of sh 369.94 billion to the TSC, demonstrating a strong commitment to education pending final approval. This funding will support various Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) from 2021–2025.
Several teachers unions, including KUPPET, KUSNET, and KNUT, have signed the agreement, signaling a collective effort to improve teacher compensation and working conditions.
The CBA outlines a phased approach to salary adjustments, with the first phase beginning July 1, 2023, and concluding on June 30, 2024. The second phase is slated to start on July 1, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025, benefiting all teachers employed since July 1, 2023.
This marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to enhance teachers’ welfare nationwide. 100,000 Teachers to Receive Salary Increment in July (LIST).
