2024 School Calendar For Term 2 Breakdown. The Ministry of Education has announced the postponement of the school reopening date to next Monday, May 6, 2024. Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu explained in a statement on April 28 that this decision was made after assessing the widespread floods affecting mobility and safety across the country.

Term two is now set to span 14 weeks, starting on May 6 and ending on August 2. The midterm break is scheduled for June 20–23, followed by an extended three-week holiday from August 5 to August 25. For teachers’ training institutions, term two will commence on April 29 and conclude on August 2, with holidays scheduled between August 5 and August 30.

Moving on to term three, it will last for nine weeks, from August 26 to October 25. During this period, exams for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) are scheduled for October 28–31.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams are slated to take place from November 4 to 22, followed by a lengthy December holiday from October 28 to January 3, 2025.

For teacher training institutions, the final semester will span 11 weeks, from August 26 to November 8, with an extended December holiday from November 11 to January 3, 2025.
