All Teachers To Pay Mandatory Sh. 2,500 For ICT Training. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made public a training that will involve teachers, its secretariat staff and grade learners.

In a circular released by the commission dated 26th March 2024, it indicated that the government has developed an ICT curriculum involving short courses where individuals will sponsor themselves to undertake it. Individuals will part with Sh 2,500 during the training.

The focus of this course will be on Foundation, basic, intermediate and advanced digital skills which will include public sector focussed digital skills.

This program has been developed as part of implementing the 2022-2032 ‘Kenya National Digital Master Plan’ by the Ministry of Information Communications and digital economy through ICT authority.

The commission through its circular directed teachers, its secretariat staff and grade pupils to register for this training.

“The training will be self sponsored at a fee of Sh. 2,500 per person for basic digital skills”, said the circular.

After completion and successful assessment by the government, trainees will be issued with certificates. All teachers, grade 8 pupils and secretariat staff are asked to register for this program using the link https://www.smartacademy.go.ke.

MOBILIZATION AND TRAINING OF CITIZENS AND PUBLIC SERVANTS ON DIGITAL SKILLS

The above-captioned matter refers.

The Ministry of Information Communications and the Digital Economy through the ICT Authority is implementing the “Kenya National Digital Master Plan 2022 2032”.

One of the pillars of the Master Plan is to impart and enhance the Digital skills of citizens. Under this initiative, it is envisioned that over 20 million citizens will be equipped with basic digital skills to enhance their capacity to effectively access and utilize Government e-services.

To this end, the Government with the support of stakeholders has developed an ICT curriculum of short courses focusing on Foundation, Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced digital skills including, public sector focused digital skills.

In Phase 1 of the programme, the ICT Authority projects to train about 5 million citizens using a consortium of ICT training organizations drawn from both the public and private sectors, NGOs, and various accredited training institutions.

The training will be self-sponsored at a fee of Ksh.2,500/ = (two thousand five hundred shillings only) per person for basic digital skills.

A certificate will be issued upon completion and assessment by the Government.

All teachers, Secretariat Staff, and Grade 8 pupils are encouraged to register for the program using the registration link: https://www.smartacademy.go.ke.

All Regional Directors, County Directors, and Sub-County Directors are directed to ensure that this circular is disseminated to all teachers in their respective jurisdictions.
