Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, made an announcement on Thursday, revealing that due to heavy rains in several regions, schools may not reopen in those areas. Specifically, Tana River, Homa Bay, and Kisumu counties, among others, are likely to be affected.
Machogu emphasized that affected schools would not resume classes and alternative learning methods would be considered for students in these regions. He made these remarks while inspecting Karen C Secondary School in Nairobi to assess its readiness for the second term.
However, he noted that 95 per cent of schools in the country were prepared for students to return for the second term. Furthermore, Machogu disclosed that the ministry intended to shorten the August holiday to allow for the completion of the syllabus.
