5 Key Considerations for TSC Immediate Teacher Transfer
|Factors TSC Considers to Approve Transfer Immediately
There are various aspects that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) assesses before approval a teacher’s transfer.
There are specific details that the commission takes into account when considering a teacher for an intercounty transfer for delocalized teachers.
When TSC issues a transfer to a teacher from one county to another, it has been fully satisfied that there is balance in the county where the teacher is moving out from. This is taken into account to avoid creating a dire shortage in terms of staffing in that county.
For transfer approval, the commission considers the following factors in order to approve a teacher’s transfer request.
Teacher’s Age
According the TSC recent move, all teachers aged 50 years and above and wish to move close to their county or homes, their transfer requests are instantly approved.
Previously, the commission did not allow teachers aged 56 years and above to transfer from their working stations for reasons known by the commission.
Health Status of The Teacher
Teachers with terminal illness have a chance to transfer almost immediately from their current station to the station of their choice.
According to TSC, teachers with diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes will be prioritized and granted their transfer requests.
As much as this group of teachers are granted immediate transfers, they must produce supporting documents as proof of the health conditions and recommendations from the health facility preferred by the teacher.
Family Considerations
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently started considering family as a ground to grant transfer request. A teacher who wishes to move closer to his family is allowed and his transfer request is granted very fast by the commission.
This transfer is not automatic as the teachers must produce a marriage certificate or an affidavit to proof the two are married.
Length of stay In a Working Station
The commission initially used to consider teachers for transfers after successfully working in a station for at least five years. Even after the elapse of these years, it was not automatic that the teacher will be granted a transfer.
Nowadays the commission can approve transfer requests of teachers who have worked even for 3 or 2 years in a work station.
Initially, even those teachers posted in insecurity prone regions like Baringo and Marsabit were asked to work for five years before they are relocated to their preferred station subject to the commission vetting and consideration.
