Government Republishes List of Universities Approved To Offer Law in Diplomas, Degrees and Masters As UON is Left Out. On Tuesday, the Council of Legal Education released a list of universities authorized to offer various law degrees, including bachelor’s, diplomas, and master’s programs within Kenya.

The council’s announcement, which appeared in local newspapers, emphasized that these universities are the sole institutions sanctioned by the state to provide legal education. Specifically, the list includes four institutions approved for master’s programs (notably excluding the University of Nairobi), 18 for Bachelor of Laws degrees, and five for Diploma of Law programs.

Kenyatta University’s application for a license to offer a Master of Laws (LLM) or to renew its existing license is currently under review.

The universities permitted to offer the Master of Laws program are as follows:

1. Strathmore Law School
2. Mount Kenya University School of Law
3. Catholic University of Eastern Africa Faculty of Law
4. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology School of Law

For the Bachelor of Laws program, the approved institutions are:

1. UMMA University School of Law
2. Africa Nazarene University School of Law
3. Chuka University Faculty of Law
4. Moi University School of Law
5. University of Nairobi Faculty of Law – Parklands Campus
6. Egerton University Faculty of Law
7. Kabarak University School of Law
8. Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Faculty of Law
9. Strathmore Law School
10. Maseno University School of Law
11. South Eastern University of Kenya School of Law
12. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology School of Law
13. Riara Law School
14. Kenyatta University School of Law
15. Daystar University School of Law – Athi River Campus
16. University of Embu School of Law
17. Kisii University School of Law
18. Mount Kenya University School of Law – Parklands Campus
