Government to support Online Learning In Schools. President William Ruto has called upon higher learning institutions to embrace innovation and emerging technologies to improve access to affordable education.

He emphasized the government’s readiness to support universities in offering online and virtual learning, which would not only enhance the country’s human resources but also promote an inclusive knowledge society.

President Ruto highlighted the ongoing implementation of a 100,000km fibre optic network project, which aims to support online learning, e-commerce, and digital jobs.

Speaking during the charter award ceremony for Tangaza University and Management University of Africa at State House Nairobi, President Ruto underscored the crucial role that higher learning institutions play in the country’s economic transformation.

He expressed pride in Kenya’s status as a regional hub for higher education, with the award of charters to the two private universities bringing the total to 64. President Ruto emphasized the importance of practical applied learning in preparing leaders across all sectors.

Furthermore, President Ruto directed the Commission for Higher Education to ensure that institutions of higher learning uphold the highest standards of integrity and to intensify efforts to combat fake university degrees and certificates.

He also announced a new university funding model aimed at addressing gaps in the government sponsorship program, prioritizing scholarship allocation for students from vulnerable backgrounds to ensure inclusivity and equitable sharing of burdens.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of tertiary and university education. He affirmed that Tangaza University and Management University of Africa had undergone rigorous processes to ensure compliance with set standards and regulations.

Additionally, during the event, Prof Edward Etengu and Dr Reuben Musyoka Mutiso were installed as Chancellors of Tangaza University and the Management University of Africa, respectively. Government to support Online Learning In Schools
