The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has invited all eligible candidates to apply for funding through its recently opened application portal.
In their announcement, HELB encouraged candidates to seize this rare opportunity and submit their applications before the deadline.
HELB outlined several requirements for a successful application. Candidates must have a valid email address and telephone number. They also need their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) index numbers and the year of examination.
Applicants must upload a passport-size photo in jpeg, jpg, or png format. Additionally, a copy of their National Identification card or Maisha card (both sides in PDF format) is required.
For fund disbursement, applicants need to provide valid bank details or a registered MPESA number under their name and ID number. If the applicant is under 18, a birth certificate in PDF format can be used instead of an ID.
Those sponsored in secondary schools must submit a copy of their sponsorship letter in PDF.
HELB’s announcement follows the official opening of the application portal five days ago, as directed by the Education Cabinet Secretary.
“I direct HELB and the Universities Fund (UF) to open the Higher Education Funding portal on June 15, 2024, to allow the eligible students to apply for funding,” stated CS Machogu.
He further informed parents, guardians, and students that the results of the funding application process will be announced on July 31, 2024.
