IG Koome Issues Directive Ahead of School Opening. The Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, issued a directive on Saturday, April 27, ordering the deployment of police and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers along major highways.

According to government data, the heavy rains have resulted in the loss of 75 lives, with 22 individuals injured and 8 still missing. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua echoed the government’s commitment to addressing the disaster by allocating Ksh4 billion for mitigation efforts.
