THE KENYA NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL

TRAINING OF KENYA CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (KCSE) EXAMINERS

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is set to train examiners for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination from 18th to 24th August 2024.

The training fee is Ksh10,500 (Ten Thousand Five Hundred shillings), which will be paid only by the shortlisted applicants. They will receive notification via SMS and the portal on how to make the payments.

The venue for training will be communicated later to the qualified applicants, and the exercise will be strictly residential.

Post-training, KNEC will engage examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper.

Teachers already trained as KCSE examiners and listed in the KNEC database do not need to apply.

Applications are invited from interested and qualified teachers for the following subject areas

1.0 SUBJECT AREAS

Secondary school teachers are needed to train as KCSE examiners in the following papers:

2.0 CRITERIA FOR TRAINING AS AN EXAMINER

2.1 General requirements for all examiner trainees

2.1.1 Must be a practising teacher in the relevant subject areas at the level of examination;

2.1.2 Must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC);

2.1.3 Must have a Diploma in Education (and above);

2.1.4 Must have a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years;

2.1.5 Must NOT be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by the TSC;

2.1.6 Must be recommended by his/her head of institution; and

2.1.7 Must be 50 years of age and below.

3.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

3.1 Applicants are required to

3.1.1 Access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link [https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke](https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke);

3.1.2 Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords;

3.1.3 Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on the “reset password” button, enter their mobile number in the format (2547********), and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system;

3.1.4 Those without CP2 accounts should click on “create account” and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system;

3.1.5 Upon successful login, complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on “apply for training” and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose.

The training slots are limited, and only qualified teachers who have submitted all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
