There are specific requirements set by the Teachers Service Commission that one must meet as a teacher to qualify for registration. The commission is mandated with registration of teachers and reviewing education and training standards for those entering the teaching profession.

Going by the latest review by the commission, teachers with certificates in P1 are not eligible for employment. It only recognizes teachers with diplomas and degrees in the teaching profession both in primary and secondary level.

Those students who have scored a C plain in KCSE can qualify for a number of diploma teaching courses in Kenya.

In this article, we will discuss the various teaching courses one can study in Kenya with a C plain mean grade.

You should note that in Kenya, you can not become a secondary school teacher if you have scored a C plain in KCSE. For you to be a secondary school teacher, you must score a mean grade of a C+ plus and above with C+ plus in any of the two teaching subjects.

List of Teaching Courses For C plain Students in Kenya

If you have a C plain in KCSE and wish to become a primary teacher, here is the list of the teaching courses that you can undertake at the Institutions of Higher Learning.

1. Diploma in Adult Education

In this course, one will be trained on handling adults who wish to gain certain knowledge, skills and attitudes in a school set up.

After you have successfully gone through this course, you can become a senior staff of adult community training centres, in-service training personnel. You can also work in discipline forces and other related field.

You need at least a C plain for you to enroll for adult education in higher institutions of learning.

2. Diploma In Early Child Development Education

This is another ideal teaching course for students who scored C plain in KCSE. This programme has similarities with Diploma I Early Childhood Care and Education.

In this course, you are taught how to engage with Children in areas of Mathematics, literacy, music and Visual arts. This course also teaches you how to become social with young children in terms of responding to their needs and cope with their challenges in linguistics.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will.consoder to employ these teachers if they have a diploma course by presenting your certificate as a proof.

3. Diploma in Primary Teacher Education

This programme is designed for those who want to become Primary School Teachers. This course is came into play after the Ministry of Education scrapped the P1 certificate from Teacher Training Colleges.

This course prepares students to develop practical and theoretical knowledge in the teaching profession.

The Ministry of Education clarified early last year when it scrapped some requirements of the course and made the mean grade of C Plain the major qualification.

4. Diploma in Special Needs Education

This course prepares students with knowledge and skills to handle learners with special needs. Here you will learn the psychology of special children especially those with mental, physical and learning impairment.

In this course one is required to specialize in any of the following disabilities;
