List of KUCCPS Popular Course (Cluster)

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its portal for first revision of courses which is set to close on 4th April 2024 for those candidates who missed to secure courses during the Feb/March application window.

This will give them an opportunity to apply for their preferred Degree, Diploma and certificate course via the online portal which will see them placed in different institutions of higher learning.

The placement body announced that those candidates who managed to score a C+ Plus in last year’s exam will have an opportunity to secure places in Universities for degree and diploma courses.

Those who wish to apply for these courses must be keen of their cluster points which are very crucial during the eve of application. This is important because it will enable them to choose courses they have qualified for hence avoid last minute rush with the placement body choosing for them any course it wishes.

In order for you to compute your cluster points, you can take four subjects from each cluster and compare it with that of the best student in that particular KCSE examination. You should not stress yourself to do the math since the KUCCPS Systems have already computed your clusters in your portal and yours is to compare them with clusters of the course

The placement service has listed 560 undergraduate courses which have been classified further into 20 clusters as indicated below.

Bachelor of Law ( LLB)

This course has witnessed an influx of applicants necessitating it to be placed under cluster 1.

Business and Hospitality Courses

in the second position, it has been seen that majority of the applicants prefer business and Hospitality related courses which has placed the courses in cluster 2.

Media Studies

The media courses have witnessed an influx of students venturing into courses like Fine arts, Graphics and film animations. This has placed this courses in cluster 3 according to the placement portal.

The major reason for high number of applicants is because the courses require low cluster points.

Geoscience

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has placed these courses in cluster 4 where it happens to consist of 16 undergraduate courses.

Engineering and Engineering Technology

Engineering and Engineering Technology and its related courses have been placed in cluster 5 by the placement body.

These courses are offered by a few Universities since they are resource and infrastructure intensive. The placement body has included architecture, building and construction and other related courses in cluster 6.

Medicine And Health Courses

The placement body has listed this courses in cluster 13. This is because many students don’t apply for them more oftenly since they have higher entry cluster points and many Universities don’t offer them since they require more resources, labs and space unlike other courses.

For those who wish to submit their applications should check out the cluster points indicated against the course of choice before adding it to the basket. This will help you to avoid going for second revision since you did not merit on the courses you submitted.
