Machogu Denies Allegations Of Dishing Out TSC Letters at Rallies.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has refuted allegations of personally distributing teacher employment letters during public events in the Kisii region.

Machogu clarified that the responsibility for hiring teachers lies with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and not with him, dismissing rumors circulating on social media as false.

In addition to addressing the employment issue, Machogu issued a stern warning to school principals regarding the practice of sending students home due to unpaid fees.

He emphasized that such actions disrupt students’ learning and instructed county education officials to ensure compliance with the directive. Machogu emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure that no student is denied education due to fee balances, with teachers who violate this directive facing penalties.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya echoed Machogu’s concerns, blaming some principals in the region for sending students home over meal fee balances, which adversely affects the students’ learning.

Governor Natembeya criticized schools for imposing excessive meal charges, exploiting parents despite receiving government capitation funds. The governor’s remarks underscored the need for transparency in school fee structures and accountability in resource management to ensure equitable access to education for all students.
