Ministry Of Education Recalls All University Degree Admission Letters 2024

The Ministry of Education on Friday nullified all the calling letters issued by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort.

According to Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Muganda in her letter dated July 19, the admission letters issued to students were no longer valid.

While making the announcement, Muganda noted the directive was strictly for students who were planning to pursue degree courses.

“The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public, particularly parents and, students that the fees to be paid by students and their guardians as relates to the full cost of each degree,” read part of the letter.

“The full cost of each degree program as previously communicated in the admission letters is hereby nullified, and, does not apply any more,” the notice added.

Nonetheless, the Ministry of Education noted the placement of students in the respective academic programs remained unchanged.

The Ministry of Education further assured students that their places in the various academic programs are firmly secured.

All universities were similarly directed to communicate by August 5, the new fees to be paid by each student.

“It is also important for the students and their parents to note that their placement in the respective academic programs remains unchanged,” the Ministry of Education noted.

The announcement comes hardly a month after the National Assembly Education Committee directed the Ministry of Education to order the withdrawal of all university admission letters.

While appearing before the committee, the Ministry was urged to direct all universities to recall the already-issued admission letters after alleged anomalies in the fees students are required to pay.

The decision to recall the letters was made to amend the amounts displayed on the calling letters to ensure fee amounts were allocated based on the set classifications.
