Ministry of Education Releases Term 3 Calendar Dates

The government has announced that all schools are scheduled to reopen for Term III of the 2024 academic year following a long break that began earlier in August, as outlined in the school calendar.

According to the Education Cabinet Secretary, most schools will begin reopening early next week, starting Monday.

The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 Term III school calendar. The Education Cabinet Secretary also addressed the reopening procedures despite a planned teachers’ strike announced by unions.

Despite the strike notice, all pre-primary, primary, junior, and secondary schools are expected to reopen on August 26, 2024.

2024 Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary Schools Calendar for Term III:

– Opening Date: August 26, 2024

– Closing Date: October 25, 2024

– Duration: 9 weeks

KPSEA & KILEA Assessment Period:

– Start Date: October 28, 2024

– End Date: October 31, 2024

– Duration: 4 days

KCSE Examination Period:

– Start Date: November 4, 2024

– End Date: November 22, 2024

– Duration: 3 weeks

2024 December Holiday:

– Start Date: October 28, 2024

– End Date: January 3, 2025

– Duration: 10 weeks

Term III, 2024, marks the final term of the academic year and will run from August 26 to October 25, lasting nine weeks. The KPSEA and KILEA exams will follow from October 28 to 31.

National KCSE exams are scheduled for November 4 to 22. Afterward, students will have a 10-week December holiday from October 28, 2024, to January 3, 2025.
