Promising Developments for Primary Teachers with a C Plain Mean Grade at KCSE. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is currently evaluating the number of primary educators who possess Diploma and Bachelor’s degrees, with the aim of potentially assigning them to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) and secondary schools.
Additionally, the Commission plans to utilize this data to fill vacancies created by secondary school teachers who will retire and leave the TSC payroll starting July 1, 2024.
A memorandum signed by Dr. Mugwuku Nthamburi, Director for Teacher Professional Management at TSC, and addressed to all regional and county education directors, requests the submission of these teachers’ data by July 11, 2024. This memo, with reference number TSC/DTPM/CDS/40/VOL.II/115, was obtained by Education News.
The TSC has instructed that the data be organized numerically by county and categorized as follows:
1. Teachers with Bachelor’s and Diploma certificates having a minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE and a minimum of C+ in each of their two teaching subjects.
2. Teachers with Bachelor’s and Diploma certificates holding a minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE and a minimum of C plain in each of their two teaching subjects.

5. Teachers with Bachelor’s and Diploma degrees who have a minimum mean grade of C- (minus) in KCSE or lower, with two teaching subjects regardless of the grades in those subjects.
Regional and county directors have also been instructed to gather supporting documents to verify the qualifications of these teachers.
