Release capitation schools smooth learning, KNUT tells MoE.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) to promptly release capitation funds to schools. Aggrey Namisi, the union’s national second Vice Chairman, emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Mochugu to expedite the disbursement to prevent disruptions in school operations.

In an interview with Education Newspaper, Namisi highlighted the challenges faced by schools nationwide in recent months due to delayed funding. He urged the MoE to prioritize the disbursement of capitation funds to ensure the smooth functioning of learning institutions.

Namisi also called on school administrators not to send students home for failing to clear school fees. Recognizing the financial strain on many parents, he emphasized the need for government intervention to ensure schools can operate without hindrance.
