Ruto Allocates 18.7B for Confirmation of All Secondary Intern Teachers Today

All secondary intern teachers can now rejoice after President William Ruto allocated KSh 18.7 billion for their confirmation under the signed supplementary appropriation act of 2024.

President Ruto, who signed the bill into law today, was joined by Budget Committee chair and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, PS Treasury Chris Kiptoo, and Moses Wetangula, among others. The responsibility now falls to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to expedite the confirmation process.

Furthermore, Ruto’s government has allocated KSh 30.7 billion for capitation for grade 9 students.

A statement from the Statehouse reads: “To support the reforms in the education sector, the bill has appropriated KSh 18.7 billion for the confirmation of all Junior Secondary School interns into permanent and pensionable terms; KSh 30.7 billion for capitation for JSS students, including those transitioning to grade nine; and KSh 23 billion to universities for the Differentiated Unit Cost funding model.”
