TSC Commuter Allowance Rates For Teachers Per Job Group

Commuter Allowance is a financial initiative that allows teachers to cover commuting expenses. This is a crucial feature in the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

From the rates published by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), they tend to vary from one job group to the other and this help the commission to understand their financial consideration.

This Allowance allows teachers to cover their transport related expenses which is an additional financial package attached on top of the teacher’s salary.

The table below shows the commuting Allowances for teachers based on their job groups and TSC ratings.

The commission provides these Allowances to teachers to reduce the burden of transportation for those teachers traveling to their schools daily.

TSC has designated various job groups using the following letters and what it means in the service;

Job Group	Description
C2	Formerly know as K. This is for secondary teacher II
C3	Previously known as L. This job group is for Secondary Teacher I
C4	This is for Deputy Headteachers
C5	Formerly job group M. This is for senior master II
D1	Formerly known as M&N. This is for Deputy principal IV and senior Master II
D2	Formerly N, for Deputy principal III
D3	This grade is for principals
D4	Formerly P, for senior Principals
D5	Includes former grades Q&R. This is for chief principal
