TSC Revised Recruitment Guidelines

Teachers now seeking employment with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) must ensure that they meet the new set guidelines put in place by the commission.

In case the commission advertises competitive positions for teachers, it will apply all these guidelines to the letter during interviews.

Qualified Teachers seeking employment with the commission must read these guidelines to enrich themselves with the required information before attending any TSC recruitment exercise.

The Teachers Service Commission act of 2012 Section 23(1) cap 212 clearly stipulates that all practicing teachers must be registered by the commission before offering their services in any public or private school.

TSC Certificate Equation

In the guidelines, the commission has emphasized that all qualified Teachers seeking employment with the commission must attach a copy of their registration certificate. For those who don’t have, should attach a print out with the verified registration status.

If one fails to present this document, he/she will be locked out of employment.

Candidates who might have lost their KNEC Certificates, KCPE/KCSE and have applied for conformation of results/certification letter must provide the address of the county Director to whom the copy has been sent to.

Individuals working in other government departments but have met all the necessary requirements are allowed to present their applications.

Teachers who are making applications should address their application letter to the school’s Board of Management (BOM). Remember to send a similar copy of the application to the respective county/Sub-County Director.

The County/Sub-County Directors should inform the applicants on the interview dates. This should be done seven days earlier before the interview day. Here, they should be informed of the date, time and venue of the interview.

During the interview, applicants must be given equal opportunities without discrimination.

Requirements for TSC Employment

Those seeking employment with the Commission must;

1. Be a Kenyan Citizen
2. Be aged below 60 years
3. Be registered by TSC in accordance to the TSC Act

NB: Those teachers who are registered but don’t have their registration certificate should present a print out with verified TSC number.

Professional and Academic Certificates

• CPE/KCPE original certificate/certification letter
• KCE/KCSE Original certificate. Present all your certificates if you sat for the exam more than once.
• PTE Certificate for primary school teachers
• Degree/Diploma original certificate
• School leaving certificate for both primary and secondary
