TSC Updated Basic Salary & Allowances For Job Group C3. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) disburses salaries to teachers monthly, with pay scales varying based on job groups. Administrative roles tend to offer higher pay due to the additional responsibilities they entail. Apart from salaries, teachers, like other civil servants, receive allowances, which also vary based on job groups and work location.

In this article, we’ll focus mainly on the pay scale for teachers in job group C3. A Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 2021–2025 was reached in 2023 between the TSC and teachers’ unions, including KNUT, KUPPET, and KUSNET.

The Education board examines the pay structure conversion for Grade C3 and T Scale 8 positions, such as Secondary Teacher I, Lecturer I, and Senior Special Needs Teacher (Primary/Senior Needs Teacher).

For Job Group C3 teachers and lecturers, the new basic salary varies based on salary points:

– 44,412 Ksh for Salary Point 1

– 46,645 Ksh for Salary Point 2

– 48,966 Ksh for Salary Point 3

– 51,383 Ksh for Salary Point 4

– 53,896 Ksh for Salary Point 5

– 56,514 Ksh for Salary Point 6

Additionally, teachers in Grade C3 receive various allowances:

– A hardship allowance of 8,000 Ksh in addition to their salary.

– A commuter allowance of 12,300 Ksh.

– An annual leave allowance of 6,000 Ksh.

– A disability guide allowance of 20,000 Ksh for Grade C3 teachers.
