The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has recently completed the promotions of over 36,000 teachers through a rigorous selection process. This process took into account various factors such as the length of service at the current grade, performance evaluations, and ensuring regional balance.
Additionally, the teachers’ ratings in the Teacher Performance and Appraisal Development (TPAD) system were also considered.
Promotion letters have been issued to the successful candidates, and they can verify their promotion status. With these promotions come new salary structures and allowances, which will be retroactively applied from March 2024. This means a significant increase in earnings for the promoted teachers.
Among the beneficiaries are 1,341 Deputy Principals I in T-Scale 13 (D3), who will now enjoy a monthly basic salary of Sh104,644 along with increased commuter and leave allowances. Similarly, 1,096 Deputy Principals II in T-Scale 12 (D2) will receive higher pay and allowances, including commuter and house allowances.
Senior Lecturers I in T-Scale 12 (D2) and Deputy Principals III in T-Scale 11 (D1) will also see increases in their monthly pay and allowances. Additionally, Curriculum Support Officers in T-Scale 10 (C5) and Head Teachers in T-Scale 10 (C5) will benefit from higher salaries and allowances.
Furthermore, Senior Masters IV in T-Scale 9 (C4), Deputy Head Teachers II in T-Scale 9 (C4), and Senior Lecturers IV in T-Scale 9 (C4) will also experience salary increments and increased allowances as part of their promotion benefits.
