Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang has reassured stakeholders that despite disruptions, teachers will effectively cover the syllabus within the allocated time frame, avoiding the need to extend the second term.
Dr. Kipsang emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring comprehensive syllabus coverage and content delivery by the end of the academic year. He underscored the implementation of measures to facilitate syllabus coverage in line with the teaching calendar, thereby minimizing any potential learning gaps.
Furthermore, Dr. Kipsang highlighted collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Education and other government agencies to address infrastructure damage in schools ahead of the upcoming reopening. He emphasized the swift action being taken to repair and improve facilities to create conducive learning environments for students.
Expressing empathy for students facing financial constraints, Dr. Kipsang urged school heads to exercise understanding and compassion, particularly towards learners who may have lost uniforms or faced other challenges.
He urged teachers not to impose unnecessary conditions on students as they return to school, recognizing the diverse hardships they may have encountered.
Dr. Kipsang’s remarks were delivered during a tree-planting event in Kinale forest, Kiambu County, where he highlighted the importance of environmental conservation in mitigating the effects of climate change.
He commended the community’s active participation in exceeding the tree-planting target, emphasizing the collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. Dr. Kipsang urged continued support for tree-planting initiatives as a crucial measure in combating climate change and safeguarding future generations.
